Website design for your business.
A website for your business, whatever its size: a restaurant, a contractor, a trade or anything else. We scope it in plain language, build it, and hand it over working. Based in New Jersey. We work remotely with businesses beyond our local area and meet nearby clients in person.
What it costs
- One page
- $500
- A single page, built and handed over. Yours outright from the start.
- Full site
- $3,000
- Up to five pages, built and handed over. Yours outright from the start.
- Full site, monthly
- $149 a month
- For a full site only; a one-page site is $500 outright. Nothing upfront. We build it and keep it running in your own accounts. You own the code after the twelfth payment.
Or write to info@plumbline.systems, or call (609) 232-2289.
Plumbline Systems is a small, woman-owned business based in New Jersey.
What you get
Every site, at any of the three prices, is built on the same foundation:
- Page structure: the pages, and what goes on each, agreed with you before we build.
- Works on a phone: laid out for phone screens as well as larger ones, and tested on both.
- Ways to reach you: clear routes for a customer to call, write or send an enquiry, on every page.
- A technical search foundation: page titles and descriptions, a sitemap, and the structured information search engines read about a business. It is set up once; we do not sell ongoing search-engine work.
- An accessibility test report: what we tested, at which screen sizes and text sizes, and what the results were.
What you own
The accounts are in your name from the day they are set up, on every plan:
- The domain is registered in your name and paid by you, roughly $15 a year. We set it up with you.
- The hosting account is in your name and paid by you. We tell you the exact cost before any work starts.
- The account your site sends mail through is in your name too.
We work inside those accounts through access you give us, and you can withdraw it whenever you like.
On a $500 or $3,000 site you own the code as well, from the start. It is handed over in a repository you own, with written operating notes, and you can hire anyone else afterwards and keep everything.
On the monthly plan the accounts are still yours from day one. Ownership of the code transfers after twelve completed payments, or on an early buyout.
The monthly plan
For a full site only. Nothing upfront: $149 a month, and we build the site and keep it running in your own accounts. The domain, the hosting and the mail are in your name from the start.
There is no minimum term. You can cancel at any time with 30 days’ notice.
Twelve months means twelve completed payments. At the twelfth, the $149 ends. It does not carry on.
At that point ownership of the code transfers to you, with the repository and written operating notes. Nothing moves hosts and nothing is migrated: your accounts have held the site all along.
Then you choose: pay us nothing more, or $49 a month if you want us to keep looking after the site and making small changes, in the same accounts. Nothing is charged after the code is yours unless you ask for it.
If you cancel before the twelfth payment
You can stop at any time, with 30 days’ notice. Until the twelfth payment the code is ours and you have a licence to use it, so this is what happens:
- We take down the website we supplied, and we remove our own access to your accounts.
- Your licence to use that code ends, so the site cannot carry on running.
- Your domain, your email, your hosting account and everything else in it are untouched. Only the website we supplied comes down.
To keep the site instead, pay the remaining payments of the twelve. Ownership of the code transfers to you then, exactly as it would at the twelfth payment. It is the payments that are left, not a number of months.
If you take our access away before we have taken the site down, stopping it is then yours to do. Carrying on running the website we supplied, without paying the remaining payments, is not permitted.
Changes after handover
There is no editing dashboard. A change is made one of two ways:
- We make it. On the monthly plan, small changes are included. On a $500 or $3,000 site, changes are $75 an hour.
- Your own developer makes it, in the code you own. On a $500 or $3,000 site that holds from the start. On the monthly plan ownership of the code transfers after the twelfth payment, so this option applies from then onward.
A small change is one that takes under 30 minutes: text, photos, hours, prices.
Looking after the site and making small changes, for an optional $49 a month, is open to every customer: after the twelfth payment on the monthly plan, or at any time on a $500 or $3,000 site. It runs in your own accounts, and you pay it only if you choose it.
If anything is broken in the first 30 days, we fix it free. That covers things that are broken, not new work.
The words
You can supply your own, or we write them together with you. Either is fine.
Business email
We can set up business email for your domain for $200, once. We set up the accounts and show you how they work.
The account is in your name and you pay the email provider directly. We tell you the exact cost before any work starts. Anything after setup is $75 an hour. We do not resell or manage email accounts.
What we do not do
Online shops, payment processing, and booking or ordering systems. Photography. Logo design.
We do not sell ongoing search-engine work.
We build new. We do not take on changes to an existing Wix, Squarespace or WordPress site; if you have one, we can rebuild it.
How it starts
Write or call. Matt replies personally, and you talk through what you need. That first conversation is free.
Before any work starts you get the scope and the price in writing.
What to tell us first
A sentence or two is enough. It helps to know:
- What the business does and the area it serves.
- What a visitor should be able to do: call, find your hours, ask for a quote.
- Whether you already have a domain name or a website.
- What already exists to go on it: a logo, photographs, a menu or a list of services.
