The source. The method. The limits.

The Plumbline Safety Console reads a site’s incident and near-miss reports in your browser, sorts each by a fixed set of written rules in English and French, with no model involved, and shows where they concentrate.

  1. The count, opened

    One category and the number of reports counted in it.

  2. A report behind it

    Its date, plant, line and recorded outcome.

  3. The matched terms

    Under each report, the words from our rules found in its description.

  4. Checking status

    The console’s own mark of whether this count has been checked.

The limits

Intake
It reads spreadsheets, Word and text files and fillable OSHA 300 forms. Scanned and handwritten pages are not read today.
Rates
These are counts of reports, computed from the file you upload. Injury rates are not computed.
Unplaced
Reports the rules cannot place are counted under “For your review”, grouped by reason, not forced into a category.
Sparse
A view with fewer than ten reports is too thin to support a conclusion. The console says so and stops.
Accuracy
Our accuracy checks so far are internal and provisional.
Tracing
A count does not yet trace to its exact row or cell, and a third party cannot yet re-run the check. That is the standard we are building toward.
